Arkansas, Louisiana, and Alabama have filed an original action before the U.S. Supreme Court and a federal lawsuit against New York, California, and Massachusetts to challenge pro-abortion 'shield laws' that protect abortionists mailing abortion drugs to pro-life states.

Alliance Defending Freedom is challenging the FDA's policy that allows abortion drugs like mifepristone to be mailed, arguing it undermines state laws that prohibit abortion and can lead to coercion, as in the case of Rosalie Markezich in Louisiana. Pro-life organizations, including Family Council, have filed legal briefs and are urging the federal government to reverse the FDA's mail-order abortion drug policy, citing health risks and the need for in-person medical oversight.
